Echinacea also known as:

      Purple coneflower
      Coneflower
      Black Samson
      Rudbeckia
      Missouri snakeroot`

Echinacea’s ability to enhance the immune system is well documented.  It has an antibiotic and interferon-like antiviral action, an antifungal effect and an anti-allergenic action. It has also been shown to have anti tumour activity.

Today it can be used as a blood cleansing remedy for skin problems such as boils, abscesses, and allergies such as eczema, infections such as tonsillitis, colds, flu, chest infections and viral diseases such as glandular fever as well as candidiasis

It has a stimulating effect on the circulation, particularly when taken in hot infusion. It is a most effective lymphatic cleanser of all the herbs.

It is also good for:
  • Bad breath: you can make a tea from it, brush your teeth and gargle with it.
  • Bladder Infection
  • Lymphatic Congestion
  • It can be used as a douche to treat Candida.
  • Combined with myrrh, it will rid the body of pus, abscess formations, and typhoid fever.
  • It aids digestion

A Recipe to Support the Immune System

4 part Pau d’arco (4 Tbsp)
2 part Echinacea (3 Tbsp)
1 part burdock root (1 Tbsp)
Optional addition: cinnamon, orange peel

Method

Use four tablespoon of each herb mixture per quart of water.
Simmer over low heat for 20 min.
Keep pot lid tightly covered.
Remove from heat and let infuse for a further 20 min
Strain and drink 3 to 4 cups daily.

WARNING: Avoid if you are pregnant, allergic to ragweed or plants in the sunflower family.  Because it stimulates the immune system, it should not be taken for lengthy periods by those with autoimmune disorders.  Recommendation: to take only for 1 week at a time.  If you are on any medication, or suffering from any of the complaints mentioned - please consult your G.P

You may be wondering what autoimmune disorder is.

In brief it can result from conditions ranging from rheumatoid arthritis to kidney disease.  Unrelenting stress, chronic allergies, and chronic infections can exhaust the immune system.   Medical drugs such as cortisone, prednisone and chemotherapy cause immune depression.  Other causes of a weakened immune system are vaccinations and immunizations against common childhood and epidemic diseases.   The thymus gland seems to be the most affected by this weakening.   This is especially important, due to its production of T-helper cells.

Prolonged stress, toxic exposure to chemicals, and radiation can weaken the immune system.  Research has shown that Aspirin has been linked as a cause of Reye’s syndrome. Asthma, low birth weight and birth defects.

Meat injected with hormones, anti biotic, bacteria, alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, chocolate, and a high -sugar diet  are all contributing factors.

The Benefits of Body Brushing

Picture
The skin is a living organ, it needs to breath. However, often times it can not do so, because the pores are blocked, inhibiting the release of toxic waste. Our clothing is another factor, albeit necessary.

Poor diet, lack of water, fresh air and exercise, stress, lack of sleep, does impact on the overall performance of the body.

Skin blemishes begin to appear, the appearance looks dull, lacking health and vigour, dead cells accumulate on the surface of the skin and the odour of the body can at times be unpleasant.

The dead cells are not visible to the naked eye - it’s only when you start body brushing your skin that they become noticeable. The particles ascend towards the light.

So what are some of the benefits of dry body brushing your skin?

  • It will open the pores
  • Your skin will breathe more easily
  • Encourage the skin to perspire
  • Remove dead cells from the surface
  • Improve circulation
  • Improve complexion
  • Reduce cellulite
  • Soften the skin
  • Assist in fat reduction
  • Assist the lymphatic system in removing waste.

All this can be yours by exfoliating your skin twice a day
